While Arvind Kejriwal would like Narendra Modi to attend his swearing-in ceremony on Valentine's day, the Prime Minister already has a date with Nationalist Congress Party chief Sharad Pawar.
Kejriwal and his colleague Manish Sisodia will meet the PM in his office on Thursday morning to formally extend an invitation for the swearing-in ceremony to be held at Delhi's Ramlila ground on February 14, exactly a year after he quit as the Delhi CM in his first stint.
Apart from the PM, the AAP will also invite some Union ministers, all seven Delhi MPs, BJP leader Kiran Bedi and anti-corruption crusader Anna Hazare.
"Our wish is to invite the PM and senior Union ministers (for the swearing-in)," Sisodia told reporters in Delhi, as the AAP registered a massive victory in the Delhi assembly elections winning 67 seats in the 70-member. Modi's Bharatiya Janata Party managed just three seats.
According to the PM's schedule, Modi is to share stage with Pawar in the latter's stronghold of Baramati on Saturday while inaugurating the new Krishi Vigyan Kendra building, a project approved by the NCP chief when he was the Union agriculture minister in the UPA government.
It is for the first time the two leaders, who have often crossed swords, will share a dais.
Modi will also address a farmers' rally followed by lunch with Pawar at his residence Govind Baug.
He is scheduled to arrive in Chakan at 9:30am on Saturday and inaugurate General Electric multi-modal manufacturing facility. The PM will then go to Baramati and also plans to visit Mumbai where he will inaugurate a judicial museum inside Bombay high court in the evening.
Modi's Baramati visit comes in the backdrop of his caustic attack against Pawar during the recently held assembly polls in Maharashtra. Referring to Pawar and his nephew Ajit, the prime minister while campaigning in Baramati had urged the voters to get rid of "uncle-nephew" duo. Modi had even called the NCP as the Naturally Corrupt Party.
Ahead of his visit to Baramati, the opposition has criticised Modi for hobnobbing with Pawar. Denying the allegations, Mahasrashtra chief minister Devendra Fadnavis said on Wednesday Modi will be going to Baramati for the inauguration of project executed by the central government.
"The BJP certainly has political differences with NCP but we do not believe in political untouchability. Moreover, the Prime Minister is visiting Baramati to inaugurate the new Krishi Vigyan Kendra building, a project approved by central government," Fadnavis said at Nashik.
