The gruesome trend of bodies in bags continued in the Capital with yet another discovery on Thursday evening.

The body — of a woman allegedly in her mid-20s — was chopped into six parts and stuffed into two black carry bags. The bags were recovered from two south Delhi locations five kilometers apart, the police said.

The tip-off came from a passerby, who called the control room at around 5.10pm, deputy commissioner of police (southwest) AK Ojha said.

“A passerby headed to the Loha Mandi area informed us about a black carry bag abandoned near the Naraina flyover, fearing it contained a bomb,” Ojha said. In the bag, the police found the victim’s torso and legs, wrapped immaculately in blue polythene.

A dog squad despatched to the crime scene found the second bag five kilometres away, on Pusa Road near Todapur village. Inside was the victim’s severed head and arms — also enveloped in blue polythene.

The body, dressed only in underwear, was taken to the Safdarjung Hospital mortuary.

“The body will be assembled by a coroner so that it can be photographed for identification and will then be preserved for 72 hours. A post-mortem will be conducted if someone claims the body within this period,” said a senior police officer.

According to the police, Handa killed Pillay in their southeast Delhi home on October 29 after a fight. He suspected she was unfaithful.

On February 11, the body of Neetu Solanki, also stuffed in a travel bag, was recovered from the New Delhi Railway Station.
