"Babita, a resident of Loni in north-east Delhi, allegedly jumped from the seventh floor of the main building of the hospital at around 12:15 pm," police said.

"The 35-year-old woman, whose husband Shivlal is a dentist, disappeared from her home at around 10:30 am without the knowledge of her family members," they said.

Babita was undergoing treatment at the Institute of Behavioural and Allied Sciences (IBHAS) in Shahdara for mental illness, police said, adding she had earlier come to AIIMS thrice for check up.

No suicide note was recovered from her.

Hridayalal, the victim's uncle, alleged that Babita was "mentally tortured" by her in-laws and they were responsible for her mental condition.

A case has been registered and investigations are on.
