Women Metro commuters ‘more forgetful’ than men

According to a Delhi Metro official, women Metro commuters seem to be "more forgetful" than their male counterparts.

He justified his claim by presenting the lost and found data compiled from November 15, 2012 to January 13, 2013.

As per the enlisted items, which were left behind by the commuters in these two months, the maximum belonged to women.

The Delhi Metro has recovered as many as 11 moneybags from trains, of which eight were women's purses. Among the articles, there were two pairs of women's shoes and three pairs of socks, a Delhi Metro official informed.

“Besides, our lost and found wing has also recovered ladies sweaters, tops, a watch, a pair of earrings and a set of bangles," a Metro official said.

The stations from which these items have been received the most include INA, Barakhamba Road, Malviya Nagar and Anand Vihar ISBT. These stations record significant footfall of women commuters daily due to their close proximity to malls and markets.

Rajni Gupta, a daily commuter, who had lost her mobile phone in the Metro a year ago, said, “Women generally carry a number of bags while travelling as compared to men. So in a busy public transport system, there is always a possibility of losing something.”
