Riding the Modi wave, BJP’s Ayodhya candidate, Ved Prakash Gupta, has defeated sitting Samajwadi Party MLA Tej Narayan Pandey, who was a minister in the Akhilesh Yadav government, by 26,806 votes. This was Gupta’s first win in his third attempt from Ayodhya. He had contested the election on a BSP ticket in 2007 and from the SP in 2012. He described his win as the victory of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision.
