BJP appoints observers to oversee govt formation in four states

The Bharatiya Janata Party on Monday appointed its observers and co-observers to oversee the election of the leader of legislative party in Uttar Pradesh, Uttarkhand, Goa and Manipur. The saffron party's parliamentary board released the list amid heightened political activity in the four states where it has won decisive mandates, ducking anti-incumbency.

Union home minister Amit Shah, who has been closely associated with the party's performance in India's most populous state, is the observer for Uttar Pradesh, where the BJP won 255 states, becoming the first political party to win a second term in past three decades. He will be assisted by BJP national vice president and former Jharkhand chief minister Raghubar Das.
