Honnali comes under the Davanagere district and it is one of the 224 Karnataka Legislative Assembly Constituencies. People of Honnali voted for Karnataka Assembly Election 2023 on May 10 and the result was declared on May 13.
In Karnataka Assembly Election 2018, there were 1,90,663 registered voters for Honnali assembly seat, out of which 96,515 were male and 94,144 were female voters. 0.7% of voters opted for the None of the Above (NOTA) option.
In the Karnataka Legislative Assembly Election 2018, Honnali constituency had 10 candidates for assembly seat contention. Honnali was one of 104 seats won by the Bharatiya Janata Party. It was a close contest with Bharatiya Janata Party's M P Renukacharya winning the election upstaging Indian National Congress's Shanthanagowda D G by a margin of just 4,233 votes.
The top two candidates split 97.8% of votes between them. Bharatiya Janata Party's M P Renukacharya got a total of 80,624 votes, while Indian National Congress's Shanthanagowda D G secured 76,391 votes. Bahujan Samaj Party's candidate Kathari Satyanarayana Rao secured 1,395 votes to finish at the third place. The top three parties got 50.2%, 47.6% and 0.9% respectively.
In Karnataka Assembly election 2013, Indian National Congress's D. G Shantana Gowda beat Karnataka Jantha Paksha's M. P. Renukacharya by 18,738 votes.
