In Karnataka Assembly Election 2018, there were 2,67,865 registered voters for Padmanaba Nagar assembly seat, out of which 1,37,870 were male and 1,29,982 were female voters. 0.9% of voters opted for the None of the Above (NOTA) option.
In the 2018 Karnataka Legislative Assembly Election, there were 14 candidates in the fray from Padmanaba Nagar constituency. Padmanaba Nagar was one of 104 seats won by the Bharatiya Janata Party. It was a one way contest with Bharatiya Janata Party's R Ashoka comfortably winning the election upstaging Janata Dal (Secular)'s V K Gopal by a huge margin of 32,166 votes.
The top three candidates split 98.6% of votes between them. Bharatiya Janata Party's R Ashoka got a total of 77,868 votes, while Janata Dal (Secular)'s V K Gopal secured 45,702 votes. Indian National Congress's candidate M Srinivas grabbed the third spot with 33,400 votes. The top three parties got 48.9%, 28.7% and 21.0% respectively.
In Karnataka Assembly election 2013, Bharatiya Janata Party's R Ashoka beat Indian National Congress's L.S.Chethan Gowda by 20,123 votes.
