Chanchal is one of the 294 West Bengal Legislative Assembly Constituencies that comes under the Maldah district. People of Chanchal voted for West Bengal Assembly Election 2021 on April 26 and the result was declared on May 2.

In West Bengal Assembly Election 2016, there were 2,15,605 registered voters for Chanchal assembly seat, out of which 1,12,904 were male and 1,02,698 were female voters. 1.1% of voters opted for for the None of the Above (NOTA) option.

What happened last time

In the West Bengal Legislative Assembly Election 2016, Chanchal constituency had 5 candidates for assembly seat contention. Total 44 seats were won by the All India Trinamool Congress, Chanchal was one of them. The election for Chanchal seat was comfortably won by Indian National Congress's Asif Mehbub defeating All India Trinamool Congress's Soumitra Ray by a huge margin of 52,368 votes.

The top three candidates split 98.0% of votes between them. Indian National Congress's Asif Mehbub got a total of 92,590 votes, while All India Trinamool Congress's Soumitra Ray secured 40,222 votes. Bharatiya Janta Party's candidate Dipankar Ram grabbed the third spot with 33,601 votes. The top three parties got 54.5%, 23.7% and 19.8% respectively.

In West Bengal Assembly election 2011, Indian National Congress's Asif Mehbub beat Communist Party Of India (MARXIST)'s Anjuman Ara Begam by 14,187 votes.
