Recent media reports said five members of Virgo Housing society in Mumbai objected to Aamir Khan's proposal to redevelop their society in Bandra. It was alleged that Aamir is 'forcing' people to sell their houses.
According to the reports, Aamir has offered to buy out flats from residents willing to do so.
Those opposing the redevelopment said Aamir Khan made a 'purchase offer' in the guise of a redevelopment offer. They claim that Aamir plans to build his bungalow on the land, instead of getting redevelopment work carried out on the premises.
In a statement issued on Friday by the PR agency for Aamir Khan's TV show Satyamev Jayate, the actor denied all allegations that he was putting any pressure on the society to go in for redevelopment.
Aamir Khan denied any use of pressure tactics or misconduct on his part.
The actor also claims that he left the building almost a year ago, after a slab of concrete fell on one of the members.
In Aamir's absence, meetings of the general body were held and a resolution was passed in favour of redevelopment, the statement added.
It was only on request from the board that Aamir made an offer for the redevelopment. Interestingly, Aamir also claims to have suggested more offers to ensure best value for the society.?
