For father-to-be Imran Khan, baby comes first, work later

Imran Khan is set to become a father soon (his wife Avantika is due to deliver next month). And the actor wants to be a hands-on dad. "Imran is eagerly looking forward to this new phase of his life. He is most excited about it," says an insider. So much so that despite ­having just one film (Nikhil Advani’s next) in hand, Imran is in no hurry to take up new projects.

"Right now, his entire focus is on the baby. So, new movies will only be ­discussed after a few months," adds the insider. Imran has also told Nikhil that he would start work on his film a month or so after the baby’s birth.

"He wants to spend time with his child," adds the insider. But even if Imran hadn’t requested for it, the project would have gone on the floors only around August, since Nikhil is busy wrapping up his next film, the remake of Hero (1983).

"That is also one of the reasons why Imran is in no hurry. Everything will be finalised once Nikhil is back," the insider adds. Although actor Ileana D’Cruz’s name has been doing the rounds to play Imran’s leading lady in the film, the insider insists no one has been finalised yet. When we ­contacted Imran, he sent a text message saying, "I am looking forward to the new role of a real-life father."
