Actor Salam Khan has got a volunteer from Bollywood to step forward and pledge his support to the actor’s cause with a bone marrow donation that can help cure cancer. Today Prateik will go city college Narsee Monjee to register himself as a donor.

Bone marrow is used for life-saving transplants for those suffering from blood cancer, thalassemia, aplastic anemia, congenital immuno deficiency and other such blood-related diseases. Salman had earlier offered his bone marrow to spread awareness about stem cell donation. He is trying to rope in as many donors as possible from the film fraternity to help save those afflicted by these hereto fatal ailments.

Salman’s charitable organisation, Being Human, has teamed up with Marrow Donor Registry India (MDRI) to create a registry of marrow donors in India. Prateik was moved by Salman’s philanthropic efforts to offer his support.

“It’s an extremely important cause to back, and when the organisers informed me that Salman was doing it too through the Being Human foundation, I decided I wanted to do my part as well,” asserts the young actor, whose mother, the late Smita Patil had in her lifetime supported several such people-centric initiatives.
