Robbery at Ritu Kumar's showroom, couture collection stolen

Veteran fashion designer Ritu Kumar's flagship store in Delhi's posh South Extension market was robbed early on Friday morning and her entire bridal couture collection stolen.
The incident came to light on Friday morning, when a passer-by saw the shutter of the store open. The store manager was then informed after which the police were called to the spot.
Investigation has revealed that at least 45 lehangas which were designed recently were stolen from the store. Cash worth several lakhs and a two computer systems are also missing. The shutter of the store had been cut using an iron.
The CCTV in the store was reportedly switched off by the store staff when they closed for the day on Thursday night.
The police have registered a complaint and an inquiry is being conducted in the case. The district DCP who visited the spot, is learnt to be supervising the investigation..
One of the pioneer's in the Indian fashion industry, Kumar is known for her indigenous fashion identity. She told HT, "This is a very unfortunate incident for us. Since the computers have been taken away, we are in the process of taking a stock of the inventory physically. What we do know is that the bridal collection along with some hard cash has been missing. The police has been very cooperative in the case and we are hoping to get some inroads on the same at the earliest "
