Ravi Dubey: I experienced empathy for the first time during Covid crisis, not as an actor but a producer

Actor Ravi Dubey talks about handling the production of his show from a producer’s point of view in this pandemic.

Actor Ravi Dubey who also backs a show as a producer, had quite a few learnings amid the pandemic. And there are some things, which he admits he could have never experienced, had he stuck to just acting.

Actor Ravi Dubey recently returned to Punjab from Kasol.

Dubey had to manage a lot of things, given how the shoot schedules went haywire due to the lockdown.

“As an entrepreneur, we all have that little sense of empathy, but sometimes we don’t have a direction to give to it. When you know that certain number of people are entirely dependent on you, not just for livelihood but their health and well being also, the latent empathy inside you gets a direction,” the actor shares, adding that he got to experience that empathy during th Covid-19 crisis, as a producer.

The 37-year-old, popular for shows Jamai Raja and Saas Bina Sasuraal, further elaborates on the broad differences between an actor and a producer’s roles.

“Being an actor, all you’re responsible for is yourself and your staff of four to five people. That’s about it. But as a producer, as soon as I got to know we’re going to be working with a certain set of people, splitting shifts and doing it in a bifurcated way, it was important to first get them all vaccinated... my entire production company and crew,” says Dubey.

The actor-prodcer was even prepared to take the financial stress that came along as he points out how one is prone to catching the cold and fever in the two to thee days after getting the jab.

“From the production point of view, those days are always a hit that the producer has to take, but we welcomed it. It was important that everybody who’s involved. gets vaccinated and takes good care of themselves and only then, they could get back to work. We’ll now ensure their second dose whenever it’s due,” says Dubey, who recently returned to Punjab, where he has been stationed for over a month now.
