Orangutan tries to fight off bulldozer to save its forest (Facebook)

What would you do if someone tries to demolish your house? You would put up a brave fight. This is exactly what this orangutan did when loggers tried to bulldoze its forest.

The footage, which was shot in 2013, was released by International Animal Rescue on Tuesday in order to raise awareness about the impact on deforestation orangutan habitat.

The post read: “This desperate orangutan is frantically seeking refuge from the destructive power of the bulldozer; a machine that has already decimated everything else around him.”

“Unfortunately, scenes like this are becoming more and more frequent in Indonesia. Deforestation has caused the orangutan population to plummet; habitats are destroyed and orangutans are left to starve and die.”

The post has received more than 8000 shares and over 268,000 views so far.

“What are we doing to this world of ours, these poor orangutans desperately trying to stop the machinery destroying the only home he knows. Surely WE should be protecting them, why do we need to destroy yet another forest. Heartbroken, when will we learn to treasure what is really important!!!!!, “ wrote Facebook user Malcolm Jacqui Wallen .

“How heart breaking is this.....what are we doing to this planet....we are killing ourselves with stupidity, the earth will survive, she will find a way to get rid of us, “ commented Lisa Robertson.

The charity was able to rescue the animal and move it to safety.

“Our team responds regularly to situations like these where an orangutan is stranded in the debris of the forest,” a spokesperson for the International Animal Rescue organisation told The Daily Mail.

“This scene is different only in that the bulldozer is still present and the clearance operation is still happening.”
