Fashionistas seem to be playing by ear this season. Ear-cuffs — elongated earrings that hug the entire ear from the lobe to the helix — have become a hot red carpet favourite with style divas.

The top trends of this accessory that is ruling the style street — artistically crafted mystical dragons, nymphs and feathers, as also crystal-studded pieces. The style has been big on international runways for a while, and with Hollywood celebrities such as Diane Kruger, Jessica Alba and the likes rocking the look, the ear-cuff seems to be the latest statement piece in a fashionista’s jewellery box.
Our bevy of Bollywood beauties also seem to be on board with this edgy trend. While actors Jacqueline Fernandes and Sonam Kapoor flaunted ear-cuffs with classy dresses recently, we loved how it added a bold touch to actor Vidya Balan’s tangerine-sari look.
Designer Anju Modi, whose ear-cuffs have hit runways, says, “I wanted to wear ear-cuffs, but I couldn’t find any in the market. It is such an interesting trend that is bound to appeal to everyone, so I thought I may as well design them myself.”
If you, too, are game to rock the look, go ahead but style your look wisely. “Since it’s an attention-catching style, just stick to this single piece of jewellery. Avoid neckpieces or hair pins while wearing this. You could go for a few bangles on one hand,” says designer Nida Mahmood.
