One trend that never goes out of fashion is the ‘Little Black Dress’ or LBD as it is fondly referred to. But if you are worried about what kind of a black dress you should opt for, then here we come to your rescue.

Too thin
For such a structure, one should opt for a dress that has extra details like full sleeves, ruched waist, layers and ruffles. Says designer Gauri Karan, “Dresses which are fitted on top and has flares go best with this body type.” Adds designer Preeti Chandra, “Also experiment with wide and deep neckline and play with shoulder and sleeves treatment. Don’t go in for straight (shift) dresses.”

Wide shoulders
“Broad shouldered ones should opt for asymmetrical necklines. Moreover, dresses with uneven length at the bottom, one-shoulder or even off shoulder are suited well,” says designer Rina Dhaka. “And avoid puffy sleeves.”

Bust heavy
“Necklines such as boat neck, A-line cuts, but not too deep, should be opted by those with a heavy bust,” says Dhaka. “Avoid Empire line cut and opt for shift dresses,” adds Karan.

Plus size - overall
So what if you are a bit on the heavier side, you still sport an LBD. “Stick to dresses with small flares and those fitted under the bust. Also the dress with little or no detailing is recommended,” signs off Chandra.
