When in doubt, wear a sari,” says Celina Jaitley who walked the ramp for debutant designer Khushali Kumar on Day Four of WIFW. Looking radiant in a purple outfit with matching stilettos and a clutch bag, we asked the lady what her style statement is… “My fashion funda is to be comfortable in your own skin,” she says. Having said that, she confesses to be a little partial to the nine-yard wonder.
“I have been wearing saris since I was 15 years old. I studied in a Hindi-medium school and my uniform was salwaar kameez. So, I have always felt more comfortable in Indian clothes,” she says. So has Jaitley ever had difficulties wearing any garment? “I find becoming a bride in a movie the most difficult task. It takes me four hours to gear up for a bridal scene and I don’t have real good memories of it,” she says.
From difficult garments to wardrobe malfunction, has she gone through any? “No, never,” she says but adds that it’s alright if at fashion week heels break or strap snaps. “It’s nobody’s fault.” This year will see seven movies starring Jaitley. “Most of them are comedies. There is Golmaal Returns, Money Hai to Honey Hai and I also have an English movie releasing this year,” she says. That’s for the movies and the ramp. What’s happening on the personal front? “I am spending a lot of time with friends and family.”
Anyone special? “No, haven’t come across anyone,” says the lady. So is Celina single? “Yes.”
