Wills India Fashion Week Spring/Summer’13 is just a month away (Oct 6-10), and the ramp this time will see an interesting dash of diversity.

After the jury recently reconsidered the lineup, it has been decided to give special emphasis to designers from the hitherto neglected Northeast, and also from regions other than Delhi. Hence, Atsu Sekhose and Jenjum Gadi have been selected to bring a fresh flavour to the fashion event.

Gadi, who is from Arunachal Pradesh says “North Eastern people are very fashion forward. The area has lots of problems to confront, but it’s wonderful to see them doing so well here.” Kolkata-based Dev from the designer duo Dev R Nil, who are also participating, says, “Our country has so much to offer. Equal representation from all regions is vital.” Other selected designers include Kallol Dutta (Kolkata), Manish Malhotra, Surily Goel, James Farreira (Mumbai), and Wendell Rodricks (Goa).

A shift in Lakme?
After the sudden ouster of Anjana Sharma who held the reins at Mumbai’s Lakme Fashion Week, sources reveal that Saket Dhankar from Wills Lifestyle Fashion Week in Delhi is set to replace her in IMG, the company that helms LFW.
