Kalki Koechlin looked gorgeous in a silver halter gown while Prateik Babbar flaunted his chiselled body in an unbuttoned white shirt as they walked the ramp for designer Rina Dhaka on Day One of the ongoing Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week Spring Summer 2012. Aditi Caroli reports.

Kalki Koechlin looked gorgeous in a silver halter gown while Prateik flaunted his chiselled body in an unbuttoned white shirt as they walked the ramp for designer Rina Dhaka on Day One of the ongoing Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week Spring Summer 2012.

Dhaka’s collection married classics with contemporary. Lots of pleats, ruffles, layers and flares were seen on the garments. The colour palette varied from greens to pinks, ivories to greys. Her couture featured dresses, jackets, jodhpurs, trousers, jumpsuits, blouses, skirts and swimsuit.

Designer on her collection: “It’s an earthy organic collection. I have used sequins and laces. Techniques like tie and dye and hand block printing have been incorporated. Fabrics include silk tussar, chiffons, linen silk, cotton silk.”

It was quite a bold attempt by the designer as braless models showed ample cleavage, bare backs and of course toned legs and a little more through high slit garments. A few even dared to show their nipples beneath see-through blouses and plunging necklines.

Kalki on walking the ramp: “We were natural on the ramp. It wasn’t planned, so there was no pressure and it was a lot of fun. We walked the ramp in the style of our characters from My Friend Pinto.”

It was a treat for the ladies to get a sneak peek of Babbar’s body: “I spend two hours in gym every day. It’s a lot of hard work.”

In the end, the duo also shook a leg on a track from their upcoming film. This time Kalki wore a blue-gray gown while Prateik donned a beige (half-buttoned) shirt.

Prateik on his character: “It’s a story about one night. It’s about a guy from Goa who is a musician. It’s a fun comedy film. It’ll release on October 14. We had a lot of fun while shooting the film. Sanjay Leela Bhansali (producer) is very excited for the film.”

“I play Maggie who is a simple innocent girl. It’s a comedy, so our comic timing was very important. Do watch it,” concluded Kalki.

The fashion event is scheduled for 8-12 at Pragati Maidan, New Delhi.
