On April 27, Deepika teamed a golden bracelet with a Greek-styled gown for a TV show. At the recent Met Gala in New York, Hollywood stars Dianna Agron, Ashley Green and Elizabeth wore similar pieces, while Kate Moss was handcuffed by two bracelets on the cover of the May issue of Vogue Brazil. Jewellery designers say the cuff bracelet is the biggest trend this season. “With clean silhouettes, a single statement-making cuff bracelet adds the needed Ka-pow!” writes stylebistro.com. “These actors aren’t big on accessorising, they’d much have one single statement piece, that’s what these bracelets are,” explains jewellery designer Deepa Mehra. “Bold cuffs turn simplicity into a chic style statement. And they work on the red carpet because they’re elegant and not in-your-face,” says jewellery designer Alpana Gujral.

Cuffs also featured prominent in the Milan and Paris fashion week, as part of the Spring/Summer collections of luxury brands Chanel, Gucci and Louis Vuitton.

The trend is hot not just on the ramp and the red carpet, but also in Delhi’s party circuit. “These cuffs have always popular but of off late they’ve become a rage. We’ve seen an increase of 15-20% increase in sales in the past five months,” says Tarang Arora of jewellery store Amrapali, Khan Market. “We’ve seen an increase of 25% sales.

From our collection, the diamond-studded textured cuffs are the most popular,” says Rupam Singhal of Orra, a jewellery retail chain.
