The events are, the
Lakme Fashion Week
that will be held in Mumbai between March 5-9 and the
Wills Iindia Fashion Week
hosted in Delhi from March 24 to 28. The theme for
LFW
is Resort Wear, while, Autumn/Winter is the focus at the
WIFW
.
Hemant Sagar of Lecoanet-Hemant confirms that he will show at both fashion weeks: "For
LFW
, it's a botanic line, made with eco-friendly fabrics. We were inspired by all the global green planet initiatives.”
Pooja Kapoor says that she was keen on doing a show and applied for
WIFW
. “I also wanted to test the Indian market for my clothes, an A/W line would have been a wrong start. Resort wear means business for me."
WIFW
President Sunil Sethi says it's the designers' prerogative if they want to show at both the Weeks. “Designers choose to participate in
LFW
because they want to reach out to a larger audience,” adds Anil Chopra, advisor to Lakme.
Sethi insists that
WIFW
is the only B2B fashion event in the country with the biggest buyer turnout. “The designers are going to Mumbai only because they are getting paid or sponsored shows.”
