With an intention to bring a new concept to the fashion scene in the city, fashionista and founder of Rudraksh, Rasika Wakalkar will host The Fashion Narrative this month. The three day initiative will comprise workshops, panel discussions, content plenaries and retail display. Wakalkar says, “I have been associated with fashion for a long time. I wanted to bring to the city much more than what we have. The city has the potential and the vibe to do wonders when it comes to fashion and style. This three day session is my way of giving back to the city.”

Rta Kapoor Chisti will showcase 15 draping saree styles in three experiential workshops. “I will be in conversation with Maharani Radhika Raje Gaekwad on royalty and its patronage to art, culture and textiles. It will highlight a historic perspective.” A panel session on experiences in textile revival will have Mayank ManSingh Kaul in conversation with Chisti and Hemlata Jain. Wakalkar adds, “This is our way of celebrating the Independence week and bringing the focus of fashion and Make in India to the grassroots of Indian fashion.”

The event will also have a retail space where Weave In India brings to Rudraksh an edit of Indian weaves like Banarasi silks, Bandhanis,Patan Patolas, Linens and Chanderis, Kanjeevarams and Georgettes. “On sale and display will be exquisite revived Chanderis from the Palace studio of Baroda, Rta Kapur Chishti curates sarees from Vidharba , Odisha, Bengal, and Tamil Nadu, along with organic handspun desi charkha khadi. Patteda anchu, also known as dundina seere or devaru seere or laxmi seere ,was bought back from near extinction, will be on promotion too.”
