A host of celebrities from the glam world seem to be on a drive to lose weight. Actors Satish Kaushik and Jaaved Jaaferi, comedian Tanmay Bhatt and choreographer Ganesh Acharya, have all gone the fit way, recently.
“This health trip has changed my life,” says Kaushik who has lost 23 kilos. The 61-year-old actor transformed himself for his 5-year-old daughter Vanshika. “I shed the kilos so that I can run around with her,” he shares. Speaking about the journey to a slimmer self, Kaushik shares, “I was referred to a doctor in Los Angeles. While losing weight I followed a protein diet in which you take 500 calories a day and don’t eat after 9pm. You eat at noon the next day. It was tough initially, but I got used it and I am feeling much lighter now,” he says.
Choreographer Ganesh Acharya stunned many when pictures of him weighing 85 kilos lesser, surfaced online. “It was tough for me and took me over a year to lose weight. I swam twice a day, went to the gym and did not eat before 12 noon and after 8pm. Now, I want to further reduce 19 kilos,” says Acharya.
Tanmay lost 110 kilos thanks to fitness coach Ranveer Allahbadia, says, “He really enjoyed powerlifting (squat, deadlift and bench press). He also ate super clean. We did the ketogenic diet, a primarily zero carb bodybuilding diet. It’s a very difficult diet to follow.”
A strict diet has also helped host-actor Jaaved Jaaferi, who posted a photo of his ripped avatar online. Speaking about how he got the eight packs, the 53-year-old says, “I went on a four-month gluten-free and dairy-free diet. There was Ramadan in the middle and I did some weight training.”
From TRX exercise to following a diet, actor Anupam Kher is in a happy space now, thanks to diet and workout. He says, “I knew I had to get rid of three things in my diet — potatoes, rice and sweets. I didn’t touch any of these for six months. Along with this, I walked for at least an hour every day. In fact, I walk 10,000 steps daily,” Kher told HT.
My brother @tanmaybhat lost 110+ kilos by following FITNESS SCIENCE. I've witnessed this beast transform from a walking heart attack to the chicken breast fuelled strong mofo that he is today. Everyone knows what he's accomplished. What people don't know is the science that's gone into his weight loss journey. Points to be noted :- 1)He went on a gradual caloric deficit. Cut calories VERY gradually - cut about 200/day every week. Eg.Week 1- 3000/day Week 2 - 2800/day Week 3 - 2600/day You should NEVER crash diet unless you want to lose muscle. 2)Went on a high protein diet (backed by heavy amounts of hydration). He's 6'3 and was consuming between 180-220 grams of protein every day. Overweight people can build muscle even in a caloric deficit, IF they eat a lot of protein. Burn fat + build muscle together. 3)Lifted like a beast. Deadlifts, squats, bench presses, overhead presses. Its amazing what heavy lifting can do for a human being's body. Unfortunately India still believes that weight training is unhealthy. This man is a living, breathing example of the power of weights. 4)Took up Keto in bursts. Gave him the occasional weight loss boost. Most of the time, my boy was following the above guidelines. That is all. There is no secret to burning fat. Tanmay is not satisfied with where he's at yet. Knowing how driven he is, I am sure he will achieve his end goal. I helped him with a part of his journey & now he's hustling by himself. I don't train people any more because I wanted to dedicate more time to my YouTube channel. Wanted to help more than just 6-8 people in a day. Youtube gives me that platform! The biggest advantage of living in 2017 is that your voice can reach out to every corner of the world. Fitness guidance and education should be FREE for all. The exact weight loss coaching plan that I used with Tanmay, is now live on my YouTube channel : Link in bio Written diet plan : Search for BBSummer on YouTube. The exact same diet plan that Tanmay followed to get to his goals. What is your excuse?
Nutritionist Kavita Devgan, says when one is aiming to lose weight, one has to opt for a healthier diet. “When you are looking for weight loss, do not work on just your calories and create a calorie deficit. Try to heal your body and create a healthy diet. When one starts eating healthy, the calories take care of themselves and the result is weight loss,” she says.
