A 13-year old girl was allegedly molested by a man at a village in Manesar on Wednesday night. The accused lived in the same neighbourhood.

Police said that the accused attacked the minor while she was sleeping on the roof.

The minor’s father, who was sleeping with her on the roof, had gone downstairs to administer medicine to his ailing wife when the accused allegedly forced himself on her, the police said. Her mother was sleeping in a room.

Police said that the minor’s eight-year-old brother had also decided to sleep on the roof. He was too scared to raise the alarm as the accused attacked his sister, police said. A case was registered against the accused on the complaint of the minor’s mother. He was booked under section 8 of the Prevention of Children from Sexual Offences (Pocso) Act and was arrested.

In her complaint to the police, the victim’s mother said that she was not feeling well on Wednesday night and decided to sleep in the room, while her husband and children headed to the roof. She said while her husband was briefly downstairs to administer medicine on her, they heard their daughter shouting for help and rushed out.

“We found our daughter crying and in shock. She told us that taking advantage of the darkness, the accused started groping her,” the victim’s mother told police.

Gurugram police said that a case was registered against the accused under Section 8 of the Pocso Act. “ The accused was arrested on the complaint of the victim’s mother. He was produced in court today (Thursday) and was sentenced to judicial custody,”Ravinder Kumar, PRO, Gurugram police, said.

On Tuesday, a 38-year old man was arrested for allegedly molesting and raping a 7-year old girl in Mohammadpur in Sector 37.

The accused, also a neighbour, lured the minor to her room by offering her chocolates and allegedly molested her. Police said her mother was at work when the alleged incident took place. The accused was nabbed and sent to judicial custody.
