Ahead of Lok Sabha elections, new DGP takes stock of law and order in Gurugram
During the meeting, new director-general of police (DGP), Manoj Yadava also sought reports from the deputy commissioners of police (DCPs) about the security measures in their areas to curb crime.
The new director-general of police (DGP), Manoj Yadava, presided over a meeting of senior police officials and station house officers (SHOs) of 40 police stations in the city to discuss the law and order situation ahead of Lok Sabha elections.
Yadava asked police commissioner Muhammad Akil to formulate a deployment plan, keeping in mind the sensitivity of an area and the security of those involved in the upcoming elections.
During the meeting, Yadava also sought reports from the deputy commissioners of police (DCPs) about the security measures in their areas to curb crime.
Senior officials and SHOs were directed to investigate crimes against women cases promptly and were asked to present charge sheet within 30 days of the FIR being filed.
“We should have a data of wanted criminals, proclaimed offenders and bail jumpers readily available,” Yadava stated in a press note issued by the Gurugram police. DGP also asked officials to inspect the checkpoints across the city and to set up barricades at all important locations to check the movement of suspicious persons.
During a surprise inspection, he visited the police station in IMT Manesar on Saturday where he checked the crime records maintained by the team. He asked the police officials to work hard and empathise with the victims of crime, particularly women.
“I am creating a database of officials who are seeking preferential transfers and postings. I will not allow such things to happen,” said Yadava.
