During interrogation, Sumit confessed that he has been supplying arms and ammunition to members of the Kaushal gang for the last three years, police said, adding that a country-made pistol was recovered from his possession.

The accused is reported to have told the police that he used to supply weapons to sharpshooters of the gang, including Chand and Sube Singh, and that he also took care of the logistics for gang members for carrying out operations in the state.

“Kumar also used to provide information about possible targets to the gang. He also revealed his involvement in several incidents of loot and robbery. We expect to get more information from him during his police remand,” inspector Sunil Kumar, STF (Gurugram) said.

In the last six months, STF and Gurugram police have arrested at least four members of Kaushal gang, including Kaushal’s brother, father, brother-in-law and his close aide most-wanted criminal Amit Dagar.

The arrest was made based on a tip-off to the STF team that has been tracking the movement of the Kaushal gang members. Sources informed the police that a key member of the gang would be visiting DLF Phase-2 on Sunday to meet someone. Six members of the STF were deployed near the colony’s entrance gates, where they spotted Kumar.

“The teams were on alert and Sumit’s picture had been shared with them. He was arrested within five minutes of reaching the area,” Kumar said.

A case was registered against him under Section 25 of the Arms Act at DLF Phase 2 police station.

In another case, the Sohna crime unit recovered a country-made pistol and bullet from a man and arrested him. A case was registered against at Sohna police station under sections of the Arms Act. The accused was identified as Ombir, a resident of Sohna.
