Police said that the latest incident took place around Sunday noon when the toll manager Daya Ram Yadav signalled the driver of the bus, heading towards Dharuhera in Rewari, to pay the R 60 toll fee.

“The driver refused to pay leading to an argument. He came out of the bus and roughed up the official. He again got on the driver’s seat, accelerated the bus and tried to run-over Yadav, who could luckily save himself,” said Kirpal Singh, a toll plaza official.

The driver drove away from the spot after the incident, police said.

Toll officials have handed over the CCTV footage of the incident to the police along with the complaint. A case has been registered against the unidentified driver at Kherki Daula police station.

“We have the CCTV footage of the incident and are examining it,” said Anand Kumar, station house officer, Kherki Daula police station.

On Friday, a group of six persons, including a truck driver, manhandled a toll plaza collector at the Kherki Daula toll plaza after being caught using fake registration certificate (RC) to get toll fee exemption.

The group vandalised the plaza after the collector Manoj Kumar asked the truck driver to pay the toll fee. The driver refused to pay as he was a local and showed vehicle registration certificate in support, which was forged as per toll plaza staff. An argument followed after which the driver called more people who manhandled Kumar and other staff.

“We have registered case in the incident and are examining CCTV footage,” said a police spokesperson.

In the wake of repeated incidents of violence at toll plaza, the highway operator has decided to register police complaints into incidents where forged registration certificates are furnished to get fee exemptions. CMD of highway operator Skylark, TC Rao said they have approached Gurgaon police to ensure that cases are lodged on such complaints.
