The 71-year-old legislator was caught in a controversy after he commented on the dressing sense of Kabaddi coach Sunil Dabas, 37, during a function at Guru Dronacharya Government PG College on Friday. Following MLA’s comments, Dronacharya Awardee Dabas, who was wearing a pair of trousers and a shirt, fainted.

Even though the woman coach and her family are yet to file a complaint, several groups began protests. On Sunday afternoon, women rights group Naari Panchayat took out a procession, shouted slogans and demanded action against Dharampal.

The procession took off from Sector 10-A and culminated at the office of Gurgaon deputy commissioner PC Meena. The women participants handed over a memorandum addressed to the Haryana chief minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda.

Meanwhile, a group of people held a Panchayat in Farrukhnagar on Sunday in support of the MLA. Dharampal’s supporters said that some unscrupulous elements were trying to spoil the peaceful atmosphere.

Dabas was in hospital when the police officials went to record her statement. Her husband also did not comment.
