Taking care of your skin in winter seems like a daunting task, Snigdha Ahuja recommends tips that may make your care regimen uncomplicated and easy.

Taking care of your skin in winter seems like a daunting task, but you can make your care regimen uncomplicated and easy. Dryness, skin peeling, patchy and chapped skin are common winter woes, but you can combat them in simple ways. From home made, DIY scrubs to exfoliating and eliminating dead, scaly skin to indulgent skin moisturising routines — here’s how you can look flawless in winter.

Timely moisturising

Don’t forget to carry a small pot or tube of moisturiser in your work bag. Remember to differentiate between your hand cream, face cream, heavy body butters and lotions. Have fun with fruity options, gorgeous smelling cocoa cream scoops or oil based, insulating body cream covers for a warm winter.

Face packs

Indulge in quick, homemade face packs that can work wonders on your skin during the dry season. Our favourite pick is a concoction of honey, milk and sugar. Honey helps to soothe redness and keeps your skin hydrated, just like a generous helping of milk, while sugar exfoliates skin naturally.

Healthy lips

Chapping of lips is one of the most common problems during this chilly season. Use a lip balm regularly to keep them hydrated. Also, when applying lipstick during the winter, let the base and the top coating be a transparent balm.

For oily skin

If you feel like the moisturising is making your oily skin worse, drop runny creams and treat your skin with a toner. Use a quick dissolving moisturiser or a mild spray-on sun screen as a substitute.
