Suicide Squad star Will Smith has promised fans Bad Boys 3 will happen after meeting with co-star Martin Lawrence for the first time in two years.

Martin Lawrence and Will Smith are the titular Bad Boys.

The Independence Day star has long voiced his interest in reuniting with Martin for another sequel in the hit action comedy franchise, but in 2012, he revealed there still wasn’t a perfect script.

“I talked to Martin about that a couple of weeks ago. Martin is into it. (We’ve) got a couple of screenplays, the story’s gotta (sic) be right.”

The original Bad Boys film, in which the stars portrayed Miami, Florida police detectives, hit theatres in 1995. Both films were directed by Transformers moviemaker Michael Bay.
