Fixing the mess: Oscars auditors apologise for best picture mix-up
In one of the biggest goof ups in the history of Academy Awards, La La Land was mistakenly called out the winner for the Best Picture instead of Moonlight. The accounting firm responsible for it has now apologised.
PriceWaterhouseCoopers, the accounting firm responsible for tabulating Oscar ballots, apologised for an “error” in the presentation of the best picture award on Sunday, saying Warren Beatty and Faye Dunaway were handed the wrong envelope.

In a one-of-its-kind goof up in the history of the Academy Awards, the mix-up saw the Oscar incorrectly given to musical La La Land before producers corrected the mistake, and Moonlight was handed the prize.
“We are currently investigating how this could have happened, and deeply regret that this occurred,” PriceWaterhouseCoopers said in a statement.
