Adam Sandler’s new holiday family flick Jack and Jill opened to 26 million dollars while DreamWorks Animation and Paramount holdover Puss in Boots remained a worthy opponent in its third weekend and followed closely with 25.5 million dollars.
The 3D action-epic Immortals topped the US weekend box office with an opening revenue of 32 million dollars, while grossing another 36 million dollars overseas.

Universal Pictures’ Tower Heist stepped in at number four with 13.2 million dollars, while Clint Eastwood’s J. Edgar biopic, starring Leonardo DiCaprio bowed to 11.5 million dollars rounded the top five.
