Is Priyanka Chopra going to announce the Oscar nominations? New pic provides clues
Priyanka Chopra, Rosario Dawson, Michelle Rodriguez and Rebel Wilson will help announce the Oscar nominations on Tuesday, the official Instagram page of the Academy suggests.
In Janurary 2017, for the first time in their history, the Oscars announced nominations not by reading them out to the press, but through a sketch featuring major actors. A year later, it looks like the nominations will be announced in a similar manner. The Academy took to its Instagram page and shared behind-the-scenes glimpses at the sketch that is presumably being prepared for the 2018 nominations, due to be announced on Tuesday. And among the stars they’ve picked for the special occasion, there is also Priyanka Chopra.
In one of the four images shared by the Academy on Saturday, we can see Priyanka sitting on a chair in a shimmery silver dress. The photograph - taken from near the monitors - confirms that it is for the Oscar nominations. “Behind the scenes with Priyanka Chopra. Tune in to the #OscarNoms announcement on Tuesday at 5:22am PT,” read the caption.
The Academy also shared images of Rebel Wilson, Michelle Rodriguez and an unrecognisable Rosario Dawson.
The frontrunners at this years Oscars are Guillermo del Toro’s The Shape of Water, the gay romance Call Me By Your Name, Steven Spielberg’s The Post. Shape of Water has been picking up most of the major awards in the lead up to the Oscars, including wins at the Golden Globes and Critics Choice Awards. It also has the most nominations at the BAFTAs.
The 90th Academy Awards will be hosted by Jimmy Kimmel for the second year in a row. The show will take place in Hollywood on March 4.
