Sean Penn sued filmmaker Lee Daniels for $10 million in September after the filmmaker and Empire co-creator characterised him as an abuser in an interview.
Defending her ex-husband Sean Penn in support of his defamation lawsuit against Lee Daniels, singer Madonna said that the actor has never abused her physically. The couple had a tumultuous marriage but according to the 57-year-old Crazy for You hitmaker, the Oscar-winning star never “struck” her, reported E! online.

“While we certainly had more than one heated argument during our marriage, Sean has never struck me, ‘tied me up,’ or physically assaulted me, and any report to the contrary is completely outrageous, malicious, reckless and false,” the singer stated, per court documents. Madonna also clarified the reports that came out in 1987 saying Penn hurt her with bat calling them “completely outrageous, malicious, reckless and false”.
She called allegations that a December 1989 incident that “purportedly resulted in Sean’s arrest” were also false. Penn sued Daniels for $10 million in September after the filmmaker and Empire co-creator characterised him as an abuser in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter.
