The Avengers are a team of superhumans whom the The S.H.I.E.L.D. agency brings together to help save the Earth from annihilation by extraterrestrial invaders.
The film stars Robert Downey Jr. as Iron Man, Chris Evans as Captain America, Chris Hemsworth as Thor and Scarlett Johansson as Black Widow, Jeremy Renner (Mission: Impossible 4) as Hawkeye, Samuel L. Jackson (Iron Man) as Nick Fury, Mark Ruffalo (The Kids Are All Right) as the Incredible Hulk, and Tom Hiddleston (War Horse) as the villain Loki.
In addition, a release date for another untitled film from Marvel was pushed up to April 4 from June 27, 2014, according to director Joss Whedon (Buffy the Vampire Slayer). Speculation is that the film is the sequel to Captain America, Doctor Strange or Ant-Man.
Thor and Captain America were also converted in post-production to 3D.
The Avengers debuts on April 25-27 in Germany, Hong Kong, Brazil, Sweden and the UK, followed by worldwide releases from May 1-4.
