The first reviews for Marvel Studios’ Thor: Ragnarok, the third film in the Thor series, are out, and they’re ecstatic across the board.
The critics’ consensus on review aggregator site, Rotten Tomatoes, declares, “Exciting, funny, and above all fun, Thor: Ragnarok is a colourful cosmic adventure that sets a new standard for its franchise -- and the rest of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.”
The film, directed by Taika Waititi, sits proudly at 98% ‘fresh’ on the website - the highest-rated (at least as of now) movie in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Some critics are calling it the saviour for the Thor franchise, whose previously entry, Thor: The Dark World, is considered one of its weakest.
Sample a few of the reviews:
“Thor: Ragnarok is the most fun of the Thor movies by a long shot, but it is still very much a Thor movie for better or worse,” writes the Associated Press’ Lindsey Behr.
“In a world of portentous blockbusters getting ever darker, it’s a joy to see one throwing on the disco lights.” says Phil De Semlyen, Time Out.
“Both the banter and the fighting, it should be noted, are excellent, so whether you go to superhero movies for the glossy escapism or the pulse-pounding action, you’ll get your large soda’s worth,” writes the Wrap’s Alonso Duralde.
Thor: Ragnarok will release in theatres on November 3.
