Brad Pitt offers a take on General Stanley McChrystal in War Machine, an Afghan war satire that releases on Netflix in May.
War Machine is scheduled for release on May 6.
Pitt plays the role of a US General and polarizing war figure who stepped in to command NATO forces in Afghanistan but was taken down by a journalist’s exposé.
The movie is based on the book The Operators: The Wild & Terrifying Inside Story of America’s War in Afghanistan by the late journalist Michael Hastings.
David Michôd (Animal Kingdom) directs what Netflix calls “an absurdist look at a born leader’s ultra-confident march right into the dark heart of folly.” Pitt’s co-stars include Tilda Swinton, Ben Kingsley, Anthony Michael Hall and Topher Grace.
