The ‘kinda chic’ trend is the internet’s new language for self-love
The term ‘kinda chic’ now has less to do with what you wear and more to do with how you live.
Typically, the term “kinda chic” would describe a vibe check for a look. But what if being chic had less to do with what you wear and more to do with how you live? That is the idea behind the latest social media trend taking over social media. Called the “kinda chic” trend, it is turning ordinary habits, life choices and personal milestones into things worth celebrating.

The ‘kinda-chic’ trend, which appeared on Instagram around April and gained momentum through July and August, has become a way of turning ordinary life choices and personal milestones into things worth celebrating.
Just begin a sentence with “Kinda chic to…” and follow it with something that may not traditionally be considered stylish, glamorous or aspirational. Here, chic is used loosely to mean cool, confident, tasteful or quietly aspirational. Instead of expensive clothes or luxury experiences, the trend makes space for self-love, body positivity, mental well-being and the small choices that make life feel better. The trend gained momentum on Instagram around April 2026 and has picked up pace through July and August.
Actor Priyanka Chopra recently hopped on the trend, sharing a list of her own kinda chic moments, including “Kinda chic to have been underestimated”, “Kinda chic to start over in your 30s” and “Kinda chic to stand out”.
Actor Drew Barrymore also embraced the trend with a series of posts, including “Kinda chic to be in your 50s”.
Similarly actor Shruti Seth also shared her “kinda chic” moments where she talked about how she decided to study further and get degrees in her forties.
Model Ashley Graham also shared her kinda chic moments where she spoke about body positivity.
