4.5 magnitude earthquake hits Rajasthan’s Bikaner

The epicentre of the earthquake was recorded at a depth of 16 km, India Meteorological Department (IMD) had said.

A 4.5-magnitude earthquake rocked Bikaner in Rajasthan at 10.36 am on Sunday, the meteorological department said. No casualty or damage to property has been reported because of the quake, with latitude 28.0 degree north and longitude 73.4 degree east.

The quake struck at a depth of 10 km in the neighbouring Himalayan kingdom, with latitude 27.9 degree north and longitude 91.5 degree east, it said.

No casualty or damage to property has been reported so far. Tremors were felt in Bikaner and some nearby areas and region of the city.

As soon as people felt tremors and news of earthquake spread in Bikaner, people started coming out of their houses.

Deepti Tailang, a housewife told Hindustan Times, “Yes it happened around 10.30 am, jolts were felt and shaking was also prominent which made us difficult to walk, somehow we made it to the outdoors so there was no harm.”
