42-year-old man found dead, in-laws booked for murder
The deceased, Ananda Pramanik, had gone to visit his in-laws in Jharkhand on Friday after receiving the news of his father-in-law’s demise, Pramanik’s relatives said. His family members alleged that Pramanik went missing on Friday.
A 42-year-old man was found dead with his eyes gouged out in West Bengal’s Murshidabad district. A murder case has been filed against his in-laws, police said.

The deceased, Ananda Pramanik, had gone to visit his in-laws in Jharkhand on Friday after receiving the news of his father-in-law’s demise, Pramanik’s relatives said. His family members alleged that Pramanik went missing on Friday.
According to police, some local residents found Pramanik in an unconscious state in a village along the district’s border with Jharkhand. The villagers took him to a Murshidabad hospital, where he was declared brought dead, police said
“His eyes were gouged out and there were injury marks on his cheeks. He was taken to a hospital in Murshidabad where doctors declared him dead. He has been murdered. We have lodged a complaint with the police,” said Ratin Pramanik, the victim’s brother.
“His relationship with his in-laws was sour. We received a call from his in-laws saying that he had met with an accident and has been rushed to a hospital in Murshidabad. When we reached the hospital his in-laws were nowhere to be found,” said Deepa Pramanik, victim’s relative.
Police officials said they have initiated a murder case.
“We have initiated a murder case on the basis of a complaint. We are awaiting the autopsy report,” a police officer said.
