A police constable allegedly shot dead his wife’s lover in broad daylight in a Sirsa market on Monday, prompting the woman to post the victim’s photo on her Facebook account saying she will always love him.
The Sirsa police arrested Subhash, who is posted at reserve battalion, Bhondse, and his friends Sanjay and Rajpal on charges of murder and criminal conspiracy and started investigating the matter.
Meena Kumari (30), also a constable in Sirsa, allegedly had an affair with the victim, Sandeep Kumar (22), a resident of Bakriyanwali village who ran a teaching institute in Sirsa town. An eyewitness told the police that Sandeep was working in his office when a Volkswagen Polo stopped nearby and the three dragged him out. They pumped bullets into his head and stomach and fled from the spot. Sandeep died during treatment.
A few hours after the incident, Meena Kumari posted the victim’s photo on Facebook saying that “I will miss you and will always love you”. She also replied to the comments on her Facebook account.
Addressing a press conference, Sirsa deputy superintendent of police (DSP headquarters) Vijay Kakkar said, “We have arrested the main accused Subhash and his two friends Sanjay and Rajpal from Sirsa after getting a tip-off about their hideout.” “The accused told police during interrogation that he suspected his wife of having an affair Sandeep and it later got confirmed. We came to know from the media that Meena who is constable and is posted at the traffic police station. If required, we will ask her to join investigation,” Kakkar said.
