Ahead of the meeting called by two factions of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) in Maharashtra, Former Maharashtra Home Minister and NCP leader Anil Deshmukh on Wednesday said that they'd see huge supporters joining NCP chief Sharad Pawar.

Talking to the media at YB Chavan Centre, Deshmukh said, "We will see a huge number of supporters joining Sharad Pawar when he will go out of Maharashtra".

Two crucial meetings are going to held in Mumbai that will decide the political fate of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), formed in 1999. While senior Pawar is banking on the 83-year-old's experience and popularity, junior Pawar has reportedly asked the NCP MLAs to make a "practical decision".

Of the 53 MLAs, over 30 MLAs are present at Ajit Pawar's camp meeting at the MET Bandra college in Mumbai today.

NCP Lok Sabha MP Amol Kolhe on Tuesday said he was restless over the developments in the outfit in Maharashtra and wanted to quit, but calmed down after meeting party president Sharad Pawar and speaking his mind. Kolhe, an actor by profession, was present in the Raj Bhavan for Sunday's swearing-in of NCP leader and deputy CM Ajit Pawar and eight other party MLAs, but later issued a statement, saying his loyalties were with the senior Pawar, PTI reported.

Congress General Secretary KC Venugopal on Tuesday slammed the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for aiding Ajit Pawar in pulling out his latest coup in Maharashtra saying that it is an "ED-sponsored government."

"This is an ED (Enforcement Directorate) sponsored government. They divided the Shiv Sena using the ED, now they have divided NCP using ED. This government has no moral support from the people of Maharashtra," Venugopal said.

According to the TV reports, 30 MLAs have arrived for Ajit Pawar's camp meeting which is set to be held at the new office in Bandra, Mumbai.

Ajit Pawar's faction leaders Praful Patel and Chhagan Bhujbal on Wednesday arrived for the crucial party meeting at the new office in Mumbai.

In a sign of disquiet in the Shiv Sena (Eknath Shinde) over NCP faction led by Ajit Pawar joining the Maharashtra government, its leader leader Sanjay Shirsat on Wednesday said that all party leaders were not happy over the development and Chief Minister Eknath Shinde will decide the course of action now.

The remarks of Sanjay Shirsat have come amid a political crisis in Nationalist Congress Party following Ajit Pawar switching sides on Sunday and joining Eknath Shinde-BJP government as Deputy Chief Ministers. Eighth other NCP MLAs took oath on Sunday with Pawar as ministers.

ays after NCP leader Ajit Pawar joined the Maharashtra government, the Shiv Sena (UBT) on Wednesday claimed that only alleged economic offenders Mehul Choksi, Nirav Modi and Vijay Mallya were left to be inducted into the BJP.

An editorial in the Sena (UBT) mouthpiece 'Saamana' dubbed the political situation in Maharashtra a movie, called "One (doubt) full and two half", a reference to Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and two Deputy CMs Devendra Fadnavis and Ajit Pawar.

Maharashtra Pradesh Congress Committee president Balasaheb Thorat said that the people of the state are with Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA).

"Those who have people's support are always stronger. The people of Maharashtra are with us (MVA). They are also coming to us. They did not like what happened," Thorat said.

On Ajit Pawar joining the BJP camp and being sworn in as the Deputy Chief Minister, he said, "I haven't had any talks with him."

Newly appointed Maharashtra Leader of Opposition and National Congress Party (NCP) leader Jitendra Awhad expressed strong disapproval over the NCP Ajit Pawar faction using Sharad Pawar's photo at their party office saying that all the NCP workers support Sharad Pawar and are upset about Ajit Pawar's move.

"All NCP workers are with Pawar saheb (Sharad Pawar). That is why workers are angry with what Ajit Pawar did. That is why his poster has been removed from the party office," Jitendra Awhad said.
