Army Captain dies in Kurukshetra mishap, Major seriously hurt
An unknown heavy vehicle hit the sports utility vehicle (Jeep Compass) the officers were travelling in.
Army Captain Kshitiz Kalia, 28, was killed and Major Hitesh Kakran sustained serious injuries in a road accident on the national highway-44 near Kurukshetra on Tuesday morning.

Kurukshetra sadar SHO Nirmal Singh said the accident took place when an unknown heavy vehicle hit the sports utility vehicle (Jeep Compass) the officers were travelling in.
He said they were rushed to Kurukshetra’s Lok Nayak Jai Prakash Hospital where Capt Kalia was declared brought dead. Major Kakran was referred to the PGIMER, Chandigarh.
Major Kalia, a resident of Dwarka in Delhi, was posted at Hisar and Major Kakran, a resident of Haridwar, was posted in Jammu.
As per the information received by the police, they were returning from Himachal Pradesh after a vacation. The SHO said an army chopper had arrived to take them to army hospital for better treatment, but Capt Kalia was already dead.
The SUV was totally damaged and police removed it with the help of a crane. The police said they have registered an FIR under Section 304 A against the driver of unidentified vehicle and efforts were on to arrest him.
Meanwhile, Capt Kalia’s father Virender Kalia and mother Neelam Kalia reached Kurukshetra to take his body.
