BJP is afraid of Rahul after Bharat Jodo Yatra: CM Stalin
Tamil Nadu chief minister and DMK president MK Stalin condemned the disqualification of Rahul Gandhi and called it a ‘fascist act.’ Stalin said the ruling BJP is scared of “India’s young leader” as Member of Parliament.
Chennai: Tamil Nadu chief minister and DMK president M K Stalin on Friday said the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) at the Centre was scared of Rahul Gandhi and condemned the disqualification of “India’s young leader” as Member of Parliament as a “fascist act.”
“It is now clear how much the BJP is scared of Rahul Gandhi. The impact created by brother Rahul Gandhi’s Bharat Jodo Yatra is also a reason for BJP’s fear,” Stalin said in a statement on Friday.
“Nobody from the Union Government has responded so far for any of Rahul Gandhi’s accusations at the Parliament. They have disqualified him with the fear of Rahul Gandhi entering into Parliament again will jeopardise their politics. By doing so, the BJP has lost all rights to even utter the term ‘democracy’.”
To disqualify Rahul Gandhi as an MP, before he could go for an appeal is nothing but snatching away the right of an elected Member of Parliament, Stalin said in solidarity with his main ally the Congress. “This amounts to threatening and curtailing the fundamental democratic right of a national party’s leader and an MP to express his opinion,” he said.
Stalin demanded that Gandhi’s disqualification be revoked. “It is not fair for the Union Government to disqualify someone from the Parliament instead of trying to answer the valid questions raised by them. I demand that the disqualification be revoked,” he said. “The disqualification of Rahul Gandhi is an onslaught on all the progressive – democratic forces of our country. All the political parties in India shall realise this and we should oppose them unitedly.”
Stalin was the first leader in India to endorse Rahul Gandhi as the prime ministerial candidate during a campaign rally in Tamil Nadu ahead of the 2019 Lok Sabha elections.
