'CM Yogi is rattled': Cong attacks BJP for sabotaging 'Chhatron Ki Goonj' event in Prayagraj
KC Venugopal dded that no “petty” tactics will deter Rahul Gandhi’s efforts from raising the issues of the students.
The Congress on Saturday accused the BJP and the Uttar Pradesh government of trying to sabotage party leader Rahul Gandhi’s ‘Chhatron Ki Goonj’ event in Prayagraj.
Sharing a video in which a man can be seen alleging that sewage water was being let out of the drain, the Congress in a post on X said, “The BJP government is resorting to every possible tactic to stop the people—but Rahul Gandhi ji and our young comrades are not going to stop.”
Congress MP KC Venugopal shared Congress’ post and accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi and chief minister Yogi Adityanath of releasing sewage water to sabotage the event.
He said, “How rattled are PM Modi and CM Yogi that they are out to sabotage Rahul Gandhi ji’s Chhatron Ki Goonj programme in Prayagraj by letting out sewage water into the maidan?”
Calling it “gutter” politics, Venugopal said the incident showed that the BJP was opposed to any effort that provided a platform for young people to speak up and share their concerns.

“This is truly gutter-level politics, and only goes to show that the BJP is against any effort that gives a platform for the youth to speak up and share their plight.”
He added that no “petty” tactics will deter Gandhi’s efforts from raising the issues of the students.
“None of these petty tactics will deter Rahul ji and the Congress from raising the issues of the students and unemployed youth who are suffering because of this regime’s complete failure to secure their future,” he added.
Gandhi’s ‘Chhatron Ki Goonj' event
Gandhi was given a warm welcome at Prayagraj airport by party leaders and workers, including Ujjwal Raman Singh, the MP representing the Allahabad parliamentary constituency.
The KP (Kayastha Pathshala) Ground, where the interaction was scheduled to be held, was waterlogged following overnight rain. Party workers were seen using buckets to drain the accumulated water as preparations for the event continued, news agency PTI reported.
JCB machines were also deployed to spread limestone and sand across the waterlogged patches, while a road roller was used to level the ground.
Gandhi on Friday said his visit to Prayagraj would focus on unemployment, recruitment delays and the challenges confronting students, arguing that the current system was failing to provide the country’s youth with adequate opportunities in education and employment.
Ahead of his visit, the Congress leader said students were working hard to build their futures but were being let down by a system plagued by paper leaks, stalled recruitment processes and a lack of accountability.
In a post on X, Gandhi said, "I am coming to Prayagraj - the city where the largest number of young people prepare for their future. One thing is clear: every student here knows that the system has become dishonest. There is no shortage in your hard work - the shortcoming lies in the intent of the system, which does not reward your effort.
"Paper leaks, stalled recruitments, years of waiting and no accountability. Students raised their voices in Kota, then again in Dehradun, and in Delhi these very students were lathi-charged simply for asking questions. In the end, a minister had to resign. This government bows only when voices are raised together. That is what I am coming to discuss in Prayagraj... You should come too. August 8, 5 pm, KP Ground, Prayagraj."
