'Congress tried to use Hakki Bikki tribe for Karnataka assembly polls,' PM Modi in Rajasthan
He further slammed the Congress and said that he would go to any extent to save Indians who are in danger.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi continued to attack the Congress party during his visit to Rajasthan’s Mount Abu and alleged that the opposition party tried to use Karnataka’s Hakki Pikki tribe members who were stuck in Sudan, for its political benefits. He also said that the Congress party made all attempts to use the issue for Karnataka polls.

Speaking at an event in Mout Abu, PM Modi said, “The forefathers of Karnataka’s Hakki Bikki tribe members stood alongside Maharana Pratap, and a few members of that community are now settled in African countries by doing small businesses. However, when they were stuck in crisis-hit Sudan, the Congress tried to use them for Karnataka elections. The party wished harm for those people and tried politicizing the issue, which needed a silent and sharp intervention.”
He further slammed the Congress and said that he would go to any extent to save Indians who are in danger. “I think the Congress still fails to identify who Narendra Modi is. Let me tell you all, I am ready to go to any extent to save Indians who are in trouble outside the country,” added PM Modi. The Twitter attacks between External Affairs Minister Jaishankar and former Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah on evacuating the members of Hakki Pikki tribe made headlines a few days ago. When Siddaramaiah tweeted and requested the union minister to intervene and bring the Indians in Sudan back, Jaishankar tweeted, “Simply appalled at your tweet! There are lives at stake; don’t do politics. Since the fighting started on April 14th, the Embassy of India in Khartoum has been continuously in touch with most Indian Nationals and PIOs in Sudan.”
In a response to the union minister, Siddaramaiah tweeted, “Since you are the External Affairs Minister @DrSJaishankar, I have appealed you for help. If you are busy getting appalled please point us to the person who can help us bring our people back.” PM Modi also met the the people of Hakki Pikki tribe who were evacuated, when he was in Karnataka for election campaign.
