Dehradun declares holiday for schools, Anganwadis on July 9 amid heavy rain alert

The district magistrate and the District Disaster Management Authority declared a one-day holiday on July 9.

All government, government-aided and private schools, along with Anganwadi centres, across Dehradun will remain closed on Thursday after the India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued an orange alert for heavy to very heavy rainfall.

The district administration said the decision was taken to prevent any untoward incidents. (PTI)

The district magistrate and the District Disaster Management Authority declared a one-day holiday on July 9, for all schools from Classes 1 to 12 and all Anganwadi centres as a precautionary measure.

The district administration said the decision was taken to prevent any untoward incidents in view of the IMD's orange alert for the district.

Instructions have been issued to the Chief Education Officer and the District Programme Officer to ensure strict compliance with the order.
