Motorcycle-borne asssailants on Tuesday opened indiscriminate firing on Dhanbad’s former deputy mayor Neeraj Singh, his driver and two others, killing all four of them.

After the incident, all the injured were rushed to Dhanbad’s central hospital where they died during the treatment.

Police said the assailants opened fire reportedly with an AK 47 on Singh’s Scorpio near his residence Raghukul. Singh, his driver Laltu and his two associates— Ashok Yadav and Santosh Tiwary— sitting inside the SUV were grievously injured in the firing, police said.

The incident is being viewed as a part of family rivalry between BJP’s Jharia MLA Sanjeev Singh and Neeraj.
