A criminal case was on Wednesday registered against him, station house officer (SHO) of police station Majitha Mohit Kumar said.

He said the incident occurred three days ago when the children, who belonged to poor families, were playing and flying kites in the area.

Ashurbanpal Singh Latti accused them of uprooting radishes from his fields and in anger, thrashed and stripped them, the police official said.

He then paraded them naked on the road as punishment, he said.

The SHO said a video of the incident was recorded by a bystander which went viral on social media.

The parents of the children registered a complaint against the accused on Wednesday, he said.
